About This Tour
Arthur’s Seat can be seen from all over the South East of Scotland, and for good reason. At over 800 feet high, Edinburgh’s biggest hill dominates the city skyline and demands your attention! In medieval times, when Edinburgh was much, much smaller, Scottish Kings would hunt on and around Arthur’s Seat. At this time, the “seat” and surrounding Holyrood Park were all outside the city limits. In the past 200 years, however, Edinburgh’s urban sprawl has grown around what is about 650 acres of craggy, steep, green space. And these days, Edinburgh locals all utilise what is undoubtedly the city’s most impressive and enchanting green space, for hiking, dog walking, jogging, cycling and the views!
Starting right at the bottom of the Royal Mile, we meet you outside the entrance of the King’s Gallery, which sits in front of the House of Holyrood Palace. From there, your guide takes you up towards the peak of Arthur’s Seat on a meandering route through Holyrood Park, giving you a full taste of how wild the city of Edinburgh can be.
While on this tour, you’ll learn about the crazy history of this unique hill, take some of the best pictures of your holiday in Scotland. Perhaps you’ll burn off some of the extra calories from tasting Scotland’s hearty cuisine!
