A group of us were in Edinburgh for a family wedding. It was the first time any of us had been to Edinburgh and several of us are Outlander fans so the Local Eyes Outlander walking tour was very appealing. We had 13 people on our private tour with Gains. He gave us excellent info on Outlander history and film locations. He also gave us excellent info on Scottish history in general. Even those on the tour not Outlander fans thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff was very responsive ahead of time for booking and questions. In addition to giving us tons of info, Gains did an excellent job herding all of us up the busy Royal Mile at the height of tourist season. I highly recommend this tour company.

I did this tour with Gains and had a lovely time. His knowledge of Edinburgh and Scotland is truly amazing. He gives the tour in a very relaxed manner, making lots of time for questions while listening to what you have to say too. Highly recommended for anyone coming to or in Edinburgh!

Review of: History Lovers Old Town Walking Tour

This tour is amazing. I took the tour with Gains and must say it was the most interesting and informative of all the tours I have taken in Edinburgh! This is my 4th trip to the city and I learned more in the two hours I spent with Gains than I did in all of my other visits. This tour is well priced for the experience! You won’t find a more educational tour in town. In addition Gains was extremely open to answering all sorts of questions and was more than happy to “go off script” to make the tour engaging for the participants. With a PhD in Scottish history he is the real deal!

This is an excellent 2 hour tour which visted parts of the city I had never before seen, despite having lived in Edinburgh for more than 25 years. Gains has a deep knowledge of the subject and invited deeper deicussion as we walked the route. The tour has a great mix of social and political history and would appeal to those who wish to dig a bit deeper than the typical Edinburgh tourist tour. Highly recommend.

Great 2 hour guided walk with Gary – organised via Expedia/Chris at Local Eyes – Gary was charming and very knowledgeable – great way to get beyond the Edinburgh everybody knows & discover its special side. Recommend to all.

Very interesting historical tour of Edinburgh by Gains, a great introduction to the city. Taking in key areas and some lesser known, much quieter closes, we enjoyed getting to know the history of Scotland and Edinburgh. We chose this tour as it promised no more than 12 in the group, which enabled a more personalised tour. Thank you Gains.
